The Crazy Journey: 40 Days, 3 Countries, 2 Life-Changing Plays

Eight theatre artists from Nepal just packed their bags for the cultural adventure of a lifetime. Shilpee Theatre Group  Nepal’s most badass social theatre company – is hitting Europe for a 40-day tour that’s going to change how Europeans think about Asian storytelling.

The Numbers That Matter:

  • 12 performances across Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.
  • 6 hands-on workshops teaching “Theatre of the Oppressed”.
  • 18+ years of changing minds through theatre in Nepal.
  • 700+ artists trained in Nepal and abroad.

Two Plays That Pack a Punch

“Lost & Found” – When Buddha Meets Modern Feminism

After Successful staged in Kathmandu  for more than 2 weeks from 17 May to 7 June . Now the play is ready to be staged in major festival of europe .

“Lost & Found” is a play that focuses on women’s rights in Nepal, particularly around the issue of citizenship. While recent legal reforms have slightly progressed, there is still no fully equal provision that allows a Nepali mother alone to confer citizenship to her child on the same terms as a father. The play highlights this ongoing inequality through two parallel narratives: one modern and one mythological. The mythological storyline reimagines the legend of Buddha Gautama through a gender-conscious lens. The play is performed in Nepali and accompanied by English subtitles.

Note : Play Will Have Subtitle in English and German Both Language.

“River Sore” – No Words, All Feels

“River Sore” is a nonverbal play that follows the journey of three rivers born in the Himalayas, symbolizing a stage of life childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age. As they flow toward the ocean, they encounter barriers both natural and man-made that prevent them from completing their journey. Alongside the rivers’ struggle, the play reveals the silent suffering of animals and ecosystems that depend on these lifelines.

Why it’s genius: In a world obsessed with words, sometimes the most powerful stories are silent.
